Inventure Named 2018 EDPA Innovation Award Winner
Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Inventure Renewables was named the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama’s Corporate Innovator of the Year at the 2018 “imerge” event held in Birmingham on July 12. Inventure was recognized for its pioneering work in developing “process technologies for the rapid, low-cost, high-yield extraction of natural, biochemical and material building blocks from low-value/waste to provide cost-effective, carbon neutral biofuels, biochemicals and biomaterials.” One of Inventure’s patented processes, Mixed Super Critical Fluid technology, was successfully deployed in 2017 by the agricultural giant Wilmar to transform a waste product from one of their processes, Fatty Acid Distillate, into biodiesel and other value-added materials.
“It was a tremendous honor for Inventure to be recognized by the EDPA,” said Ryan Long, Inventure’s Chief Technology Officer who was on hand at imerge to accept the award. “There are many benefits – financial and environmental– to making better use of industrial and agricultural byproducts and wastes. In the past, the cost of technologies to deal with these have been too expensive or impractical to implement commercially. Inventure’s processes make these processes profitable, removing the primary barrier to market acceptance.”
Inventure was instrumental in all facets of the Wilmar project, from initial conception and design through construction.
